As per the announcement, the registration for JEE Advanced 2026 will commence on April 23 and will remain open until May 2, 2026. The examination itself is scheduled for May 17, with IIT Roorkee overseeing the event. Additionally, tentative dates for the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) 2026 for admissions into IITs and NITs have also been disclosed.


Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced 2026

Who is Eligible to Register?
JEE Advanced serves as the gateway for admissions into IITs and NITs, functioning as the primary entrance examination for engineering courses. JEE Main is the preliminary assessment, while JEE Advanced is the main examination. The first session of JEE Main is slated for January 21 to 30, followed by the second session from April 2 to 9. Only the top 250,000 candidates from both sessions of JEE Main 2026 will qualify to register for JEE Advanced 2026 at jeeadv.ac.in.


Detailed Schedule for JEE Advanced 2026

Key Dates:
1. Registration opens: April 23 at 10:00 AM.
2. Registration closes: May 2 at 11:59 PM.
3. Registration fee submission deadline: May 4, 2026.
4. Online registration for foreign students and OCI/PIO candidates starts: April 6.
5. Examination date: May 17, conducted in two shifts.
6. Eligibility: 250,000 qualifiers from JEE Main 2026.


Exam Format and Answer Key Release

Exam Structure:
JEE Advanced 2026 will take place on May 17 in two shifts. Paper 1 is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while Paper 2 will run from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

Answer Key and Results:
The answer key for JEE Advanced 2026 will be available on May 21 at 5:00 PM. A provisional answer key will be released on May 25 at 10:00 AM, allowing candidates to challenge it until May 26 at 5:00 PM. The final answer key and results will be announced on June 1.


JoSAA Counseling and AAT 2026 Schedule

JoSAA Counseling:
Following the results announcement on June 1, the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) 2026 counseling is expected to commence on June 2, 2026, at 5 PM.

AAT 2026 Schedule:
Alongside the JEE Advanced schedule, IIT Roorkee has also released the Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) 2026 timeline. Registration for AAT will be open from June 1 at 10 AM until June 2 at 5 PM. The AAT will take place on June 4, with results declared on June 7 at 5 PM. Candidates must pass JEE Advanced to qualify for AAT 2026 for admission into B.Arch programs at IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT BHU Varanasi.
