IIT Madras Launches Free AI Training for K-12 Teachers Across India

AI Training Initiative for Educators
AI for All Teachers: The influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly expanding in various sectors, including education. Schools across India are beginning to adopt AI technologies, and initiatives are underway to train teachers in this field. Soon, educators from kindergarten through grade 12 (K-12) will receive AI training nationwide.
Launch of 'AI For All' Program
IIT Madras, one of India's premier engineering institutions, has introduced the 'AI For All' initiative aimed at equipping K-12 teachers with essential AI skills. This program is designed to enhance the teaching capabilities of educators throughout the country.
'AI for Educators' Training Program
The training, titled 'AI for Educators', will focus on integrating AI education across various subjects, providing teachers with the necessary knowledge and practical tools to implement AI effectively.
Free Training for All Participants
The program will be offered at no cost to participants. In collaboration with the IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the online course will be accessible via SWAYAM Plus, with a duration ranging from 25 to 45 hours.
Empowering Teachers with AI Skills
The initiative was announced by IIT Madras Director V. Kamakoti during a recent event. He emphasized the importance of AI in transforming education and highlighted the pivotal role teachers play in this evolution. By providing them with AI skills, the program aims to enhance educational quality and contribute to national development.
SWAYAM Plus: A Hub for Online Learning
SWAYAM Plus, an initiative by IIT Madras under the Ministry of Education, aims to offer diverse learning opportunities across India. Currently, the platform features over 430 online courses spanning 15 sectors, including engineering, banking, financial services, hospitality, and IT/ITES.
Recent AI Course Offerings at IIT Madras
This year, IIT Madras has introduced five AI courses, including AI in Physics, AI in Chemistry, AI in Accounting, Cricket Analytics, and AI/Machine Learning using Python. These courses are part of the broader 'AI For All' initiative.
