Career Opportunities through GATE Scores
Employment Prospects via GATE Scores
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is pivotal not only for academic pursuits but also for obtaining government positions. Numerous Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) leverage GATE scores for engineering recruitment each year. Candidates with high ranks may receive job offers based on interviews or group discussions, eliminating the need for a separate written test.
Leading government firms such as ONGC, NTPC, BHEL, GAIL, IOCL, HPCL, BPCL, SAIL, Power Grid, Coal India, and DRDO frequently conduct recruitment based on GATE scores. Positions like Engineer Trainee, Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET), and Management Trainee are filled through this process.
For example, NTPC and Power Grid Corporation hire a significant number of engineers annually based on GATE results. Similarly, companies in the oil and gas sector, including ONGC, IOCL, and GAIL, shortlist candidates using GATE scores, typically followed by interviews or group discussions.
In addition to PSUs, various government agencies and research institutions, such as DRDO, ISRO, and BARC, also value GATE scores for specific roles.
