GATE 2026 Registration Deadline Extended to October 6

GATE 2026 Registration Update



The deadline for registering for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) has been extended to October 6. Students interested in taking this exam can complete their application process by visiting the official website of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Guwahati) at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Applications must be submitted online; no other formats will be accepted.


Late Fee Applicable from October 7

Starting October 7, IIT Guwahati will impose a late fee on applications. Students will be able to apply with a late fee from October 7 to October 9, 2025.


Application Fees

To participate in this examination, students are required to pay an application fee of ₹1,200 for the regular period and ₹2,500 for the extended period. Additionally, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, or Persons with Disabilities will need to pay ₹1,000 for the regular dates and ₹1,500 for the extended dates.

  • To fill out the GATE 2026 application form, first visit the official website gate2026.iitg.ac.in.

  • Click on the 'Application Portal' on the homepage.

  • Next, click on the registration link and fill in the required details to register.

  • After registration, complete the form by filling in the other details.

  • Payment of the specified fee is required.

  • Finally, submit the completed form and keep a printout for your records.


Eligibility Criteria

Students who are in their third year or higher of a bachelor's degree program or have obtained a government degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, arts, or humanities are eligible to sit for the GATE 2026 exam.
