GATE 2026 Overview



GATE 2026: Concerns arose regarding a potential scheduling conflict between the Graduate Aptitude Test (GATE) 2026 and the UPSC Engineering Services Preliminary Exam. The UPSC has scheduled its Engineering Services Prelims for February 8, 2026, while GATE is tentatively set for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. However, IIT Guwahati has clarified that there will be no overlap.


Measures to Prevent Date Clash


The GATE organizing committee has taken steps to ensure that the exam dates do not coincide with the UPSC Engineering Services Exam. IIT Guwahati has confirmed that essential core engineering subjects such as Civil Engineering (CE), Electronics and Communications (EC), Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Geology and Geophysics (GG), Instrumentation (IN), Production and Industrial (PI), and Geomatics Engineering (GE) will not be scheduled for February 8.


GATE 2026 Exam Schedule and Application Details


The GATE 2026 examination will take place on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026. The application process commenced on August 25, with the deadline for submitting applications without late fees set for September 28. Candidates can submit applications with a late fee until October 9.
