Essential Guidelines for UP Board Exams: What Students Need to Know

Overview of UP Board Exams

This year, the Uttar Pradesh Board has established over 8,000 examination centers, with more than 5 million students expected to participate. Important guidelines have been released for students in preparation for the upcoming exams.

Exam Schedule and Important Information

The high school and intermediate examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Board of Secondary Education are set to commence on February 18, 2026. With the exam dates announced, the board has provided essential rules, security measures, and guidelines for students.

Key Regulations for OMR Sheets

As in previous years, OMR sheets will be utilized for the high school exams. Students will need to answer 20 objective questions on these sheets, while the remaining 50-mark questions must be written on answer sheets. To reduce errors, the board will print students' roll numbers and subject details on the OMR sheets. It is crucial for students to use a blue or black ballpoint pen to fill in the correct circles. Any alterations, such as cutting or using correction fluid, may lead to cancellation of the answer sheet. In such cases, an orange OMR sheet will be provided, requiring students to fill in all necessary information themselves. At the conclusion of the exam, both the OMR sheet and its counterfoil will be sealed separately to prevent tampering.

Handling Admit Card Issues

Students who forget their admit card may face permanent disqualification from the exam. It is mandatory to present either the original or a duplicate admit card before the next examination. Failure to do so will result in disqualification for future exams. Students arriving late may be granted a 30-minute grace period, provided they have a valid reason. Additionally, students with disabilities will receive an extra 20 minutes and will be seated on the ground floor in multi-story centers. The board has also announced a second chance for students who missed the Intermediate practical exam due to valid reasons, allowing them to retake it after the written exam on March 12.

• Report any discrepancies in your question paper immediately.


• Manage your time effectively; tackle easier questions first and reserve the last 5 minutes for review.

What Not to Do?

• Avoid stress and comparisons with peers before the exam.


• Stay away from mobile phones and social media.


• Do not bring prohibited items to the exam.


• Avoid leaving the exam room without a valid reason.


• Refrain from any dishonest actions or attempts to cheat.


• Do not disturb fellow students during the exam.


• Ensure that all materials used comply with the exam instructions.
