Revised Exam Schedule Released
Delhi University Exam Dates: The University of Delhi has announced a revised timetable for its undergraduate exams. The updated schedule includes some exams being held on Sundays, a change made in response to ongoing confusion and student complaints regarding the exam timetable.
Priority on Early Completion for Senior Students
Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, the Controller of Examinations at Delhi University, emphasized that the main goal of the new schedule is to finish exams for sixth and eighth-semester students sooner. This adjustment is crucial as many students need to prepare for competitive exams, interviews, and job opportunities.
Introduction of Eighth-Semester Exams
First Eighth-Semester Exams Under NEP:
This year marks the first time that Delhi University will conduct exams for the eighth semester, following the implementation of the four-year undergraduate program as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Previously, the academic curriculum only extended to the sixth semester.
Exam Dates and Structure
Exams Start on May 16:
The original exam schedule was set to commence on May 16 and conclude on June 19. However, the revised plan will see sixth and eighth-semester exams taking place on alternate days over a span of 14 days, starting from May 16, with some exams scheduled for Sundays.
Following this, the second and fourth-semester exams will occur over the next 14 days, with all even-semester exams expected to wrap up by June 14.
Support for Students with Backlogs
New Schedule Benefits:
University officials have indicated that the updated timetable is particularly beneficial for students with backlog papers in their sixth or eighth semesters, allowing them to better manage their remaining exams.
Applicability of Changes
NEP Students Only:
The Controller of Examinations clarified that these changes to the exam schedule are applicable solely to students enrolled under the NEP 2020. There are no alterations for those taking exams under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) or the Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF).
