Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. The test is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. It is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India.

Central Board of Secondary Educational (CBSE) has announced that it will release the admit cards of Central Teacher Eligibility Test 2015 on 4th September 2015.  The exam will be conducted in two parts. The CTET- Syllabus 2015 is available here.

The Central Teaching Eligibility Test (CTET) September 2015 Paper I and Paper II updated syllabus is given below:
Paper I (for classes I to V) Primary Stage:

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy
  2. a) Child Development (Primary School Child)
  • Concept of development and its relationship with learning
  • Principles of the development of children
  • Influence of Heredity & Environment
  • Socialization processes: Social world & children (Teacher, Parents, Peers)
  • Piaget, Kohlberg: constructs and critical perspectives
  • Concepts of child-centered and progressive education
  • Critical perspective of the construct of Intelligence
  • Multi-Dimensional Intelligence
  • Language & Thought
  • Gender as a social construct; gender roles, gender-bias and educational practice  Individual differences among learners, understanding differences based on diversity of language, caste, gender, community, religion etc.
  • Distinction between Assessment for learning and assessment of learning; School-Based Assessment, Continuous & Comprehensive Evaluation: perspective and practice
  • Formulating appropriate questions for assessing readiness levels of learners; for enhancing learning and critical thinking in the classroom and for assessing learner achievement.
  1. b) Concept of Inclusive education and understanding children with special needs
  • How children think and learn; how and why children ‘fail’ to achieve success in school performance
  • Basic processes of teaching and learning; children’s strategies of learning; learning as a social activity; social context of learning.

Reading unseen passages – two passages one prose or drama and one poem with questions on comprehension, inference, grammar and verbal ability (Prose passage may be literary, scientific, narrative or discursive)

Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is an entrance exam  for the candidates who aspire to get selected for the Primary and Higher School level teaching post which will be conducted by the Central board of Secondary Education.
