CTET 2026: Guidelines for Candidates with Disabilities
CTET 2026 Guidelines for PwD Candidates
Overview: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued specific guidelines for candidates with disabilities (PwD) who will be taking the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on February 7th and 8th, 2026. These regulations are designed for those who need a scribe or writer due to physical challenges. The board assures that all eligible candidates will receive necessary accommodations and additional time during the exam.
As per the CBSE CTET guidelines, candidates requiring scribe assistance must adhere to certain procedures prior to the examination. This includes ensuring the validity of their medical certificate and the educational qualifications of the scribe. The CBSE has emphasized strict compliance with these regulations at examination venues to avoid any discrepancies. It is crucial for candidates in this category to familiarize themselves with these guidelines.
Eligibility for Scribe Assistance:
According to CBSE regulations, candidates with a disability of 40% or more who cannot write independently are eligible for scribe assistance. A valid disability certificate from a recognized medical authority is required. Priority is given to candidates with conditions such as blindness, locomotor disabilities affecting both hands, and cerebral palsy.
Standards for Scribe:
Candidates may either bring their own scribe or request one from the examination center. However, the scribe's educational qualifications must be lower than that of the candidate's examination level. For instance, if a candidate is taking Paper-2 (Classes 6-8), the scribe should not have the same level of qualification. During the CTET, the scribe is permitted to write only what the candidate dictates.
Additional Time Allocation:
To alleviate time constraints for candidates with disabilities, CBSE has arranged for 'compensatory time'. PwD candidates utilizing a scribe or facing writing difficulties will receive an extra 20 minutes for each hour of the exam. Therefore, instead of the standard 150 minutes (2 hours and 30 minutes) for the CTET, these candidates will have an additional 50 minutes.
Required Documents and Procedures for Scribe:
Candidates must arrive at the examination center at least two days before the exam to notify the Center Superintendent. They are required to submit copies of their scribe's photograph, identity card, and educational qualifications. The PwD category must be clearly indicated on the CTET admit card. If a candidate brings their own scribe, they must also provide a declaration confirming the accuracy of the scribe's information.
CTET 2026: Important Checklist for PwD Candidates:
1. Medical Certificate: A valid original disability certificate of 40% or more from a recognized medical authority (CMO/Civil Surgeon).
2. Scribe's Identity Proof: If bringing a personal scribe, provide their Aadhaar card or any government-issued photo ID.
3. Scribe's Qualification Proof: Certificate confirming the scribe's educational qualifications (must be lower than the candidate's).
4. Passport Size Photos: Recent passport-sized photographs of both the candidate and the scribe (minimum of 2 copies each).
5. Undertaking: A completed and signed undertaking in the format specified by CBSE.
6. Admit Card: Verify that the PwD category and the ‘Scribe Required’ option are correctly marked on your CTET admit card.
7. Information at the Center: Notify the Center Superintendent in writing at least two days before the CTET exam.
8. Extra Time: Confirm that you are granted 20 minutes of extra time per hour (totaling 50 minutes).
Key Considerations:
Ensure your seating is on the ground floor; if not, inform the center staff immediately.
The examination center cannot charge any additional fees for a scribe or special arrangements. Visually impaired candidates may carry a magnifying glass (non-electronic).
CBSE has instructed all examination centers to provide ground floor seating for candidates with disabilities, and ramps or lifts should be available to facilitate access.
