The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has revised the post-result protocol for students who took the Class 10 board exams. Those who are unhappy with their results must first request a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheets.

This new procedure applies to both the main and second board examinations for 2026. Students wishing to contest their results must obtain their evaluated answer booklet before they can apply for marks verification or re-evaluation.

According to a notice released on August 5, the entire process will unfold in three distinct stages. The main board exam results were announced on April 15, 2026, while the second board exam results were made public on July 18, 2026. All post-result service applications must be submitted online.

Three-Stage Process Overview

CBSE has organized the post-result process into three phases. Initially, students will acquire a scanned copy of their evaluated answer booklet. If they find discrepancies, they can then apply for marks verification. Should issues remain after verification, they may submit a request for the re-evaluation of specific answers. The Board has emphasized that students cannot directly apply for verification or re-evaluation without first obtaining the scanned copy.

Application Timeline for Scanned Copies

The application window for requesting scanned copies of evaluated answer sheets is open from August 5 to August 9, 2026. A fee of ₹300 per subject is applicable for this service. CBSE encourages students to thoroughly review the scanned copy before deciding on verification or re-evaluation.

Verification and Re-evaluation Application Dates

Students can apply for marks verification and re-evaluation from August 16 to August 19, 2026, after reviewing their scanned answer sheets. The fee for marks verification is ₹300 per answer sheet, while re-evaluation costs ₹100 per question. Separate fees must be paid for each service if both are requested.

Verification Process Details

During the verification process, CBSE will check for any unanswered questions, ensure that total marks are accurately calculated, and verify that the final marks recorded from the answer sheet are correct. If students remain dissatisfied after verification, they can apply for re-evaluation of specific questions. The Board has clarified that the outcome of re-evaluation—whether it results in an increase, decrease, or no change in marks—will be final. If marks change, students must return their previously issued marksheet and certificate to receive a new one.

To utilize the post-result services, students should follow these steps:

1. Visit the CBSE website.

2. Click on the 'Post-Result' or 'Verification' link and log in.

3. Choose the relevant process and complete the application form.

4. Make the payment online.
