CBSE to Provide Scanned Answer Sheets via DigiLocker by 2027
Introduction to CBSE's New Initiative
CBSE Scanned Answer Sheets on DigiLocker: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to launch a new feature that will allow Class 12 students to access scanned copies of their answer sheets through DigiLocker starting in 2027. This initiative will enable students to view their evaluated answer sheets alongside their mark sheets, as confirmed by a senior official from the Ministry of Education. This move comes in response to numerous complaints regarding the current process of obtaining scanned answer sheets.
Issues with Current Process
**Numerous Complaints Regarding Answer Sheets**
At present, students must apply online to receive scanned copies of their answer sheets after the CBSE results are announced. Following this, they can request mark verification or re-evaluation. However, many students have reported issues such as the swapping of answer sheets, technical problems with the portal, and issues related to payments.
Mistaken Identity of Answer Sheets
**Some Students Received Copies Belonging to Others**
Sources from the Ministry of Education revealed that around 20 students received scanned copies of other students' answer sheets this year due to technical errors during the scanning process. One student, Vedant, reported that after receiving unexpectedly low marks in Physics, he discovered that another student's answer sheet was mistakenly linked to his profile during the re-evaluation process.
Payment Issues Reported
**Complaints of Overcharging and Failed Payments**
Officials from the Ministry indicated that at least 50 students were charged more than the set fees for obtaining scanned answer sheets, mark verification, or re-evaluation. Additionally, many students faced repeated failures with the payment gateway, leading to multiple deductions from their accounts.
Increase in Demand for Answer Sheets
**Demand for Answer Sheets Doubled This Year**
According to CBSE data, around 200,000 students accessed scanned copies of their answer sheets in 2025, while this number jumped to over 400,000 in 2026. This surge has put significant pressure on the system, resulting in various technical issues.
Technical Audit by IIT Experts
**IIT Experts to Conduct Technical Audit**
In response to the complaints regarding increased portal traffic, payment issues, and potential cyber threats, the Ministry of Education has tasked teams from IIT Madras and IIT Kanpur with auditing the technical infrastructure of the CBSE portal.
Concerns Over On-Screen Marking
**Questions Raised Over On-Screen Marking System**
Students and educators have raised concerns about the CBSE's On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, claiming that not all pages or answers on certain answer sheets were clearly visible during the digital evaluation. This could affect the re-evaluation process, and these complaints are currently under investigation.
