CBSE Reschedules Board Exams for Classes 10 and 12
CBSE Board Exam Update
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will not conduct board examinations today. An official notification previously released indicated that the exams scheduled for March 3 have been postponed due to administrative reasons. According to CBSE, the rescheduled Class 10 exams will now take place on March 11, 2026, while the Class 12 exams are set for April 10, 2026. Schools have been instructed to communicate this information to all relevant students and parents. A revised schedule reflecting the updated dates has been issued by the board.
Rescheduled Class 10 Exams
The Class 10 examinations for the following subjects will now be held on March 11:
Regional and Foreign Languages (Group-L):
Tibetan, Bhoti, Bhutia, Bodo, Tangkhul, Mizo, Kashmiri, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Bahasa Melayu.
Academic Elective Subjects (Group-A2):
National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Fundamentals of Bookkeeping and Accounting.
Changes to Class 12 Exam Schedule
The Class 12 examination for Legal Studies, originally scheduled for March 3, will now occur on April 10, 2026.
In a circular issued on December 29, 2025, Examination Controller Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj informed the principals of CBSE-affiliated schools that the exams for Class 10 and Class 12, which were initially set for March 3, 2026, have been rescheduled due to administrative reasons. The new dates are as follows: Class 10 - March 11, 2026; Class 12 - April 10, 2026. All other exam dates will remain unchanged.
Important Updates to Note
CBSE further stated that the revised dates will be reflected on the admit cards, and schools must update their internal timetables accordingly.
Students preparing for the board exams are advised to carefully review the revised schedule and plan their study strategies accordingly.
The CBSE board exams commenced on February 17. On the first day, Class 10 students took the Mathematics (Standard and Basic) exam, while Class 12 students sat for Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, English Shorthand, and Hindi Shorthand exams.
Class 10 exams will conclude on March 10, while Class 12 exams will end on April 10. This year, students will be examined in 83 subjects for Class 10 and 120 subjects for Class 12.
