CBSE Postpones Class 12 Board Exams in Middle Eastern Countries
Postponement of Class 12 Exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a temporary postponement of the Class 12 board examinations set to take place in several Middle Eastern nations. This decision was communicated in a circular dated March 7, 2026, and is attributed to the prevailing circumstances in the region.
Exams originally scheduled for March 9 to 11, 2026, for students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools across Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have been delayed. The board has assured that new dates for these examinations will be provided shortly, and further assessments will be made regarding subsequent exams based on the evolving situation.
Details of the Postponement
The CBSE's decision follows a careful evaluation of the current conditions affecting these countries. The affected nations include Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, where numerous CBSE-affiliated institutions serve Indian students.
Specifically, the Class 12 board exams set for March 9 (Monday), March 10 (Tuesday), and March 11 (Wednesday) have been postponed. The board emphasized that only the exams for these three days are affected, and they will announce new dates later to ensure students have adequate preparation time and that the exams can be conducted smoothly.
Future Review and Updates
Review Scheduled for March 10
The CBSE plans to reassess the situation on March 10, 2026. Based on this review, decisions regarding exams scheduled for March 12 and later will be made. If conditions improve, the exams may proceed as planned; however, adjustments to the schedule may also be necessary depending on the circumstances.
Stay Informed
Students and parents are encouraged to stay updated through their schools and avoid relying on rumors or unverified information. Official updates, including new exam dates, will be communicated through the respective schools. This announcement was made by Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the CBSE Controller of Examinations.
