The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced the application process for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets, with the submission deadline set for June 6. However, the board has yet to announce when the re-evaluation results will be released. This move follows a significant drop in student results, which has been linked to the controversial 'On-Screen Marking' (OSM) system implemented for Class 12 assessments. In light of the dissatisfaction surrounding OSM, there have been calls for a manual re-evaluation of the answer sheets. The Government School Teachers Association (GSTA) has formally suggested this to CBSE.

He noted that both students and parents are unlikely to be satisfied if the OSM system is utilized for re-evaluation. Yadav emphasized that CBSE should consider manual re-evaluation if necessary.

Yadav further stated that even a single mark can significantly affect a student's future educational opportunities and admissions. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure that no student feels dissatisfied with their Class 12 results, which play a vital role in their academic journey. All necessary steps should be taken to guarantee this.

The GSTA's General Secretary mentioned that teachers are ready to undertake the manual re-evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets. He pointed out that the current predicament stems from neglecting timely feedback regarding the OSM system. The issue lies not with the government's intentions but with the administrative failure to heed the suggestions of stakeholders.
Investigation into OSM System
This year, CBSE employed the OSM system for evaluating Class 12 answer sheets, but the initiative was met with significant challenges. As students began to receive scanned copies, they reported various issues, including unclear scans, incorrect markings, and even the misplacement of answer sheets. These problems raised serious concerns about the OSM system, leading to widespread protests. In response, the government has established a one-member committee to investigate the OSM tender.
