CBSE Opens Portal for Class 12 Re-evaluation and Marks Verification
CBSE Re-evaluation Announcement
Students awaiting their CBSE Class 12 Board examination results can breathe a sigh of relief as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched the portal for Marks Verification and Re-evaluation. Those who have received scanned copies of their answer sheets can now submit their applications online for both verification and re-evaluation. The application window will remain open until June 6, 2026, allowing students to address any concerns regarding their marks within this timeframe.
CBSE's Social Media Update
In a recent update on its official 'X' account, CBSE announced the activation of the Verification and Re-evaluation portal. The Board encouraged students to view a video that outlines the application process before proceeding. Clear step-by-step instructions have been provided to facilitate the application process.
Re-evaluation Amid OSM Controversy
This year's re-evaluation process is unfolding amidst ongoing discussions about CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. For the first time, the Board has implemented a large-scale digital checking system, where examiners assess scanned answer sheets. Following the results announcement, many students expressed concerns on social media regarding the evaluation process, with some reporting unexpectedly low marks and others alleging issues with blurred images of their answer sheets. This has led to a surge in interest for the re-evaluation process, resulting in over 400,000 applications.
Significant Fee Reductions
In light of the OSM controversy and student complaints, CBSE has introduced a substantial reduction in fees for post-result services. The new fee structure is as follows: ₹100 per subject for a scanned copy of the answer sheet, ₹100 per subject for marks verification, and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Previously, these fees were ₹700 for a scanned copy, ₹500 for verification, and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation, marking a significant decrease.
Refund Policy for Increased Marks
Additionally, CBSE has stated that if a student's marks increase after re-evaluation, the fee paid for re-evaluation will be refunded.
Steps to Apply for Re-evaluation
To initiate the re-evaluation process, students must first acquire a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. They should thoroughly review the scanned copy for any unanswered questions, totaling errors, missing pages, or evaluation discrepancies. If any irregularities are found, they should apply for marks verification. If it appears that marks were insufficiently awarded for a specific question or if the evaluation was incorrect, students can then apply for re-evaluation of that question.
