CBSE Mandates Apaar ID for 2026 Board Exams: Key Details

Introduction of Apaar ID Requirement
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a significant update for the upcoming 2026 board examinations. Students will now be required to possess an Apaar ID to sit for their 10th and 12th-grade exams. Those lacking this digital identification will be ineligible to participate.
Submission of List of Candidates (LOC)
This new directive is part of the guidelines issued by CBSE to educational institutions, mandating the submission of the List of Candidates (LOC). Schools must provide student data to CBSE ahead of the board exams, which is essential for generating admit cards and organizing the examination process.
LOC Submission Timeline
Schools are instructed to submit the LOC online between August 29 and September 30, 2025. Late submissions will incur a fee and must be completed between October 3 and October 11, 2025. It is crucial that both the LOC and the associated fees are submitted by the deadlines.
Eligibility for Board Exams
Only students listed in the LOC will be permitted to take the 2026 board exams. Therefore, schools must verify and ensure the accuracy of the students' names, dates of birth, gender, category, and parental details before submission.
Purpose of Apaar ID
The introduction of the Apaar ID is aimed at linking the LOC with this 12-digit digital identity, which records students' complete academic history. This includes mark sheets, degrees, certificates, scholarships, and other achievements, all stored securely in one place.
CBSE believes that implementing this requirement will enhance identity verification and help mitigate examination-related discrepancies in the future.
Required Information for LOC Submission
When submitting the LOC, schools must provide the following details:
- Student's full name
- Parent or guardian's name
- Date of birth
- Apaar ID
- Correct subject code and combination
- Application category (fresh/improvement/compartment)
