Eligibility for Practical Exams
Who Needs to Take the Practical Exam?
CBSE specifies that the practical exam is compulsory for students falling into the following two categories:
- Students classified as 'Repeat Practical' (RP)
- Students categorized as 'Repeat Theory and Practical Both' (RB)
Exam Requirements for RP and RB Students
Exam Requirements:
| Category | Is the Exam Required? |
|---|---|
| RP (Repeat Practical) | Only the practical exam is required; previous theory marks remain valid. |
| RB (Repeat Theory and Practical Both) | Both theory and practical exams must be taken. |
Exam Locations
Where Will the Exams Be Conducted?
Regular students will complete their practical exams at their respective schools. Private students will take their exams at the same center where their theory exams are held. If a center lacks the necessary practical facilities for a subject, the CBSE Regional Office will arrange for an alternative location at a nearby school or examination center.
Mark Submission Guidelines
Instructions for Uploading Marks:
CBSE has mandated that only the answer booklets provided by the Regional Office should be utilized for the practical exams. It is essential to upload students' marks to the CBSE portal on the same day the exam concludes. The Board has also stated that once marks are uploaded, no alterations will be permitted.
Responsibilities of Schools and Regional Offices
School and Regional Office Responsibilities:
The Board has directed schools to compile a list of eligible students, arrange for an external examiner from the Regional Office if needed, and notify students about the exam schedule in advance. Additionally, regional offices are instructed to prepare lists categorized by examination center and subject, appoint external examiners promptly, and ensure the practical examination and marks-uploading process are completed on time.
