Overview of the Board Exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially launched the board examinations for 10th and 12th grades today. This year, a total of 8,074 centers have been established for 10th-grade students, while 7,574 centers are designated for 12th-grade students. The examinations for 10th graders will continue until March 10, whereas the 12th-grade exams will wrap up on April 10.

In this examination cycle, over 4.3 million students are participating, comprising around 2.4 million boys and 1.9 million girls. Prior to the commencement of the exams, the board ensured that all necessary security, monitoring, and evaluation measures were in place.

Student Participation and Gender Breakdown

This year, approximately 2.5 million students are registered for the 10th grade, while about 1.85 million are enrolled in the 12th grade. The gender distribution shows that around 1.4 million boys and 1.09 million girls are taking the 10th-grade exams, and for the 12th grade, there are 1.02 million boys and 8.3 million girls participating.

The administrative framework is fully operational to support the large-scale examination process.

First Day Challenges and Exam Schedule Changes

The first day of the 10th-grade exams features Mathematics, a subject often viewed as challenging. This year, the exam schedule has been altered, placing Mathematics at the beginning rather than in the middle or at the end of the exam period.

For 12th-grade students, the opening day includes exams in subjects such as Biotechnology, Business Studies, and Entrepreneurship. The board has already distributed admit cards, and schools have provided necessary guidelines to the students.

Exam Discipline and Punctuality Rules

The board has emphasized strict adherence to exam protocols. Exam center gates will close at 10 a.m., and latecomers will not be allowed entry. Students are strongly encouraged to arrive early.

Regular students must wear their school uniforms, while private candidates can opt for simple, light-colored attire.

Innovations in Evaluation Process

This year marks the introduction of an 'on-screen marking' system for evaluating 12th-grade answer sheets. This innovative approach allows answer sheets to be scanned and reviewed digitally by teachers, enhancing transparency and efficiency in the evaluation process.

Opportunities for 10th-Grade Students

A significant feature of this examination session is the provision for 10th-grade students to take the board exam twice. This initiative aims to alleviate exam stress and offer students a chance to improve their performance.
