Bihar Board Implements Strict Guidelines for Upcoming Class 12 Examinations
Introduction to the Class 12 Examinations
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is preparing to commence the Intermediate (Class 12) board examinations starting February 2, 2026, at various centres throughout the state. In anticipation of the exams, the board has released comprehensive guidelines aimed at students, parents, invigilators, and district officials to ensure a smooth and fair examination process.
Security Measures at Examination Centres
As per the latest directives issued by the board, stringent security measures will be implemented at all examination venues. A key initiative is the enforcement of Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) within a 200-metre radius of each exam centre. This regulation is designed to prevent overcrowding, maintain order, and deter any attempts at cheating during the examinations.
Enforcement of Section 163
To uphold discipline, Section 163 will be strictly enforced within 200 metres of all examination sites. This rule prohibits the gathering of unauthorized individuals and unnecessary crowds near the exam centres. Local authorities and police have been instructed to ensure compliance with this regulation throughout the examination period.
Any breaches of this rule will result in immediate action, and individuals such as parents, guardians, and coaching staff will not be permitted to linger near the examination premises.
Admit Card Verification Process
BSEB has also tightened the entry protocols for candidates. Students will only be allowed to enter the examination centre after their admit cards have been thoroughly verified. The details on the admit card, including the photograph, will be cross-checked against the official attendance sheet provided to each centre.
Each student has been assigned a unique identification number for identity verification. Entry into the examination hall will only be granted if the photograph on the admit card matches that on the attendance register, a measure aimed at preventing impersonation.
Multiple Set Codes for Question Papers
To further enhance the integrity of the examination process, the Bihar Board has announced that question papers for each subject will be distributed in 10 different set codes. This strategy is intended to minimize the chances of cheating and organized malpractice. Candidates are advised to verify the set code on their answer booklet and question paper before starting the exam.
Two-Level Security Checks for Candidates
All candidates will undergo two rounds of physical checks before being allowed to take their seats. The first check will occur at the main entrance of the examination centre, conducted by magistrates and police personnel. The second check will be performed inside the examination hall by the invigilators.
After the inspection, invigilators must submit a declaration confirming that the candidate has been properly checked. The board has warned that any student found violating examination rules or carrying prohibited items will face severe consequences, including potential criminal charges and a ban from future board examinations for up to two years.
Provisions for Candidates with Disabilities
The Bihar Board has also established specific guidelines for candidates with disabilities. Students who cannot write independently may request a scribe from the department. Additionally, eligible candidates can bring their own scribe, subject to existing regulations and prior approval. These provisions are designed to ensure equal opportunities for all students.
Enhanced Security Measures and Announcements
Examination centres have been instructed to announce entry procedures at least one hour before the scheduled exam time. Centres lacking proper boundary walls or located near open areas will receive additional police presence.
The board has cautioned that any attempts to forcibly enter the centre, such as climbing walls or circumventing security, will lead to strict legal repercussions.
CCTV Surveillance and Videography
To bolster monitoring efforts, all examination centres will be equipped with CCTV cameras. Furthermore, the board has mandated that one videographer be assigned for every 500 candidates. This initiative aims to ensure real-time surveillance and provide visual documentation in case of disputes or allegations of malpractice.
With these extensive measures in place, the Bihar Board is committed to conducting the Class 12 examinations in a fair, transparent, and secure manner. Students are encouraged to adhere to all instructions, arrive at their centres early, and cooperate with authorities to avoid any last-minute complications.
