The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced an extension for the registration deadline concerning the 2028 annual examinations for both Matric (Class 10) and Intermediate (Class 12). Students now have until October 24, 2026, to register, an extension from the previous deadline of October 10, 2026. This decision was made following numerous requests from students and educational institutions, as well as to resolve pending applications and technical issues with the online registration system.

Eligibility and New Registration Deadline

The BSEB has clarified that the current registration is for students who will be taking the board exams in 2028. The new deadline for registration is October 24, 2026. Students currently in Class 9 will be eligible for the Matric exam, while those in Class 11 will sit for the Intermediate exam in 2028.

Role of School Principals in Registration

The registration process must be conducted by the school principal or an authorized representative. Schools are required to access the official BSEB website to complete the online registration forms for eligible students. It is crucial for schools to accurately input details such as personal information, subjects, photographs, signatures, and other necessary data. All entries should be thoroughly checked before submission.

Reasons for the Deadline Extension

Dr. Tyagrajan SM, the Chairman of the BSEB, explained that the extension was granted due to several factors. Many schools, colleges, and students requested additional time for registration. A significant number of eligible students were unable to submit their applications by the original deadline. The extension allows schools to finalize registrations for these students, especially those who faced technical challenges or other practical issues during the online registration process. The Board's goal is to ensure that all eligible students can participate in the 2028 board examinations.

Understanding the 2028 Examination Schedule

The Bihar Board's system mandates that registration for the Matric and Intermediate examinations occurs approximately two years in advance. Therefore, students currently in Class 9 in 2026 will take the Class 10 board exam in 2028, while those in Class 11 will take the Class 12 exam in the same year. This advance registration process for the 2028 exams began in 2026.
