The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released comprehensive guidelines for students taking the Class 10 (Matric) Board Exams in 2026, which are set to commence on February 17, 2026. The board has warned that breaching exam centre regulations could result in criminal charges, including the filing of an FIR in severe cases.


With an estimated 15.12 lakh students expected to participate in the Matric exams this year, the board has enhanced security protocols to ensure transparency and order during the examinations. Students are urged to adhere strictly to all instructions to avoid disqualification or legal repercussions.


Prohibited Items in Exam Centres

Shoes and Socks Prohibited


According to the latest directives from BSEB, students are not permitted to wear shoes or socks inside the examination hall. Candidates must wear only slippers when arriving at the exam centre. This measure aims to deter dishonest practices during the examination.


The Bihar Board Matric exams will take place from February 17 to February 25, 2026, in two shifts throughout the state.


Students are required to bring:



  • Admit Card


  • Aadhaar Card (mandatory)



Failure to present valid identification may result in being denied entry.

The board has issued a stern warning against unauthorized access to exam centres. If a student arrives late and attempts to enter by scaling walls, forcing gates, or using any unauthorized methods, it will be classified as a criminal offense.


Such actions will be categorized as criminal trespassing and an attempt to undermine the examination's integrity. Possible consequences include:



  • Up to two years of debarment from exams


  • Filing of an FIR against the student

Additionally, centre superintendents who permit such candidates to take the exam will face suspension and disciplinary measures.


Timely Arrival is Crucial

Exam Centre Gates Closure Policy


To ensure order and security, the Bihar Board has announced that exam centre gates will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam. No student will be allowed entry after this time, regardless of circumstances.


Arrive Early


The Bihar Board Matric exams will be conducted in two shifts:



  • First Shift: Begins at 9:30 AM


  • Second Shift: Begins at 2:00 PM



Entry to exam centres will commence:



  • From 8:30 AM for the first shift


  • From 1:00 PM for the second shift
