Transition to Semester System: Starting from the academic year 2025-26, the board exams for class 11 and class 12 in West Bengal will be conducted semester-wise instead of annually. This decision has been approved by the state government, marking a significant shift in the examination pattern.

Exam Structure and Evaluation: Under the new semester system, students will face two exams each academic year. The first semester will be held in November 2025, followed by the second semester in March 2026. The final marks will be calculated by averaging the scores from both semester exams. The first exam will primarily consist of OMR sheets with multiple-choice questions, while the second exam will include short-answer questions.

Recent Developments: In the latest West Bengal Class 12 examinations concluded in February 2024, 41 students were disqualified for possessing mobile handsets during the exams. This highlights the importance of maintaining exam integrity and discipline.

Upcoming Class 10 Exams: Meanwhile, the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) has announced that the class 10 examinations for the year 2025 will be held between February 12 and 24. The exact timetable will be released along with the results of the Madhyamik Class 10 exams for the current academic year.
