On Wednesday, officials from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids and searches at two residences belonging to Arnab Basu, an employee of the West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC), which is responsible for conducting exams and interviews for teaching and non-teaching staff recruitment in the state. Basu works in the accounts department of the WBSSC. The residences, both located in Salt Lake, Kolkata's northern outskirts, were raided as part of the ED's investigation into a multi-crore recruitment scam in state-run schools. The ED has not disclosed any information about its findings from the raid.

In related news, the ED also questioned Kakoli Shil, the wife of Ayan Shil, a real-estate promoter who was arrested in connection with the recruitment scam. Kakoli Shil, who resides in New Delhi with her son, arrived in Kolkata on Saturday and appeared at the ED office for questioning. She is a director in one of the companies floated by her husband and hence her interrogation is necessary, according to sources. The ED questioned her for the second time on Wednesday at the central agency's office at the Central Government Office (CGO) complex in Salt Lake.
