The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the CSE Mains 2023 timetable for the shortlisted candidates. The Mains examination is scheduled to take place from September 15 to September 24, 2023. The papers will be held in two shifts: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Candidates can access and download the timetable from the official website, upsc.gov.in. Here's the detailed timetable for UPSC CSE Mains 2023:

September 15:

  • Paper I: Essay (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
  • No Examination in the afternoon

September 16:

  • Paper II: General Studies-I (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
  • Paper III: General Studies-II (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM)

September 17:

  • Paper IV: General Studies-III (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
  • Paper V: General Studies-IV (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM)

September 23:

  • Paper-A: Indian Language (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
  • Paper-B: English (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM)

September 24:

  • Paper VI: Optional Subject Paper-1 (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
  • Paper VII: Optional Subject Paper-2 (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM)

The CSE Mains written exam carries a total weightage of 1750 marks. Candidates who achieve the required minimum score in the written exam will be eligible to appear for the interview or personality test, which holds a weighted score of 275 marks. For ranking purposes, candidates' scores in the written exam papers (papers I to VII) and the interview will be considered.

The registration process for DAF 1 began on July 11, and on June 12, the UPSC Civil Service preliminary examination result was announced. The e-admit card along with the exam schedule will be provided on the UPSC website, upsc.gov.in, three to four weeks before the UPSC CSE Main exam. In case a candidate changes their postal address, email address, or mobile number after submitting the form, it is their responsibility to inform UPSC about the change before the examination.

The UPSC CSE preliminary test was conducted on May 28, and 14,624 candidates qualified for the 2023 UPSC Mains exam. Additionally, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has rescheduled the main examination for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2023 to avoid any clash with the UPSC Mains exam. The UPPSC main exam will now take place from September 26 to 29, providing candidates with ample time to prepare for both exams without any scheduling conflicts.
