Union ministry write to Delhi Police over fake site of Territorial Army

According to officials on Tuesday, a senior officer of the Territorial Army filed a complaint with the Delhi Police about a fake recruitment drive being carried out by "scamsters" through a fake website. The officer alleged that the website, https://recttterritorialarmy.co.in/, was spreading false news about the Territorial Army's recruitment drive and tarnishing its image, causing financial losses to job aspirants. The fake website was also found to be uploading phony forms and QR codes to deceive potential candidates. The complaint, which was addressed to the Delhi Police Commissioner and the Special Cell unit, also mentioned the official Territorial Army website, jointerritorialarmy.gov.in.
The officer emphasized the importance of taking necessary action against the fake website, as it not only maligns the image of the Territorial Army and Indian Army but also creates inconvenience for aspirants and increases the workload for the Territorial Army in responding to inquiries on different platforms.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case under sections 419, 420 of the Indian Penal Code, and 66D of the Information Technology Act. The cyber cell unit of the force is investigating the case, with an Inspector-level Officer in charge. The police are also approaching Google and other search engines to block the fake website and prevent people from making payments under false assurances of getting jobs in the Territorial Army. Further investigation is currently underway.
