According to a recent report, the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme in Tamil Nadu has had a positive impact on student attendance. The scheme has been implemented in schools across every district in the state, and as a result, attendance has increased. The report indicates that approximately 85 percent of the schools under the program have seen an increase in the turnout of students between classes 1 to 5.

This success was recently shared by Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, the Finance Minister of Tamil Nadu, who tweeted data highlighting the positive outcomes of the initiative. One graph showed that across all districts where the scheme had been implemented, a significant percentage of government schools recorded an increase in attendance. Additionally, in four districts - Tirupathur, Perambalur, Ariyalur, and Thiruvarur - 100 percent of the schools noted an increase in attendance.

Another graph showed that out of the 1,543 schools where the scheme was implemented, 1,319 (roughly 85 percent) schools showed an increased attendance. The report specifically compared the turnout of class 1 to 5 students in January-February 2023 to that in June-July 2022. Dr. P Thiaga Rajan, who tweeted about the success of the program, expressed immense satisfaction with the results of the Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme, which was initially launched in Madurai. This initiative's success reflects the importance of children's well-being in society, as they are the future and their well-being is fundamental to social justice.
