Submit Recommendations on Integrating Technology in Higher Education: AP CM

Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister, Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, has sought the expertise of a high-powered 'Working Group on Future Technology Skills' to propose recommendations for integrating cutting-edge technologies like augmented reality and virtual reality into higher education curricula. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of including subjects related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the courses offered by majority schools and colleges, with the assistance of representatives from global tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, and others, including Nasscom.
In a press release issued by the state government on Thursday, Reddy stated, "As part of the higher education reforms, it is imperative to incorporate augmented reality, virtual reality, and other related subjects into the curriculum, while introducing essential components like AI in all courses. Our goal is to nurture students into experts in various emerging technologies."
To accomplish this, Reddy called for a complete overhaul of teaching methods, examination patterns, and evaluation systems at the school and college levels. He highlighted the challenge of elevating the current reforms in school education to a higher level and integrating them seamlessly into higher education. Reddy acknowledged that without necessary changes, government school students might find it challenging to compete globally in an age dominated by International Baccalaureate (IB) standards.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that once the curriculum and teaching methodology changes are implemented, Andhra Pradesh will become a benchmark for the entire country. He encouraged the working group members to consider the ongoing digitalization efforts in government schools as they formulate their recommendations.
Reddy urged the working group to be prepared with a comprehensive action plan for the next meeting, underscoring the urgency of their task in shaping the future of education in the state. With this ambitious initiative, the state aims to equip its students with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
