JEE Advanced 2023 All India Rank 1 holder, Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy, attributes his success to his unwavering consistency in studying. He maintained a disciplined study routine, dedicating regular hours to learning and revision. Despite coming from a humble background with his parents being government school teachers, Vavilala's goal is to secure admission into IIT Bombay for pursuing a BTech in Computer Science Engineering. Hailing from Hyderabad, he embarked on his JEE Advanced preparation journey during his 11th-grade studies. Vavilala believes that starting early provided him with a strong foundation by strengthening his understanding of fundamental concepts in physics, chemistry, and mathematics. This early start allowed him to gradually expand his knowledge and skills over time.
Vavilala's remarkable performance in JEE Main 2023 earned him an All India Rank of 15, scoring an impressive 341 marks out of 360, equating to a 94.74 percentile. Additionally, he excelled in the INMO First Level Olympiad selections. He completed his 12th-grade studies under the CBSE board, achieving a perfect 10/10 GPA in class 10 and scoring 987/1000 in his class 12 exams.
In an exclusive interview with News18.com, Vavilala stressed the importance of deep understanding rather than mere memorization of concepts. This approach enabled him to effectively tackle complex problems and apply his knowledge during the JEE Advanced. He advises future JEE aspirants to focus on building a strong conceptual foundation in all subjects.
Vavilala Chidvilas emphasized that his preparation strategy for JEE Advanced revolved around three key elements: comprehensive understanding, practice, and self-discipline. To familiarize himself with the examination patterns, he solved a diverse range of problems from various sources, including previous years' papers and mock tests, to enhance his problem-solving skills. Studying at Infinity Learn By Sri Chaitanya, Vavilala considered the last two months before the examination as crucial. During this period, he aimed to consolidate his knowledge and refine his exam-taking strategies. He comprehensively revised all subjects, solved numerous practice papers, and analyzed his performance to identify areas for improvement. Mock tests and simulations helped him simulate the exam environment and boost his confidence. The focused preparation during these months enhanced his speed, accuracy, and overall performance in the actual examination.
Approaching the question paper strategically, the top rank holder scanned the entire paper to gain an overview of the sections and questions. He then chose to start with the section he felt most comfortable and confident in, maximizing his efficiency and building momentum as he progressed through the paper. During his last-minute preparations, Vavilala reviewed important formulas, concepts, and key points, engaging in activities that helped him feel relaxed.
