Shepherd's Daughters' NEET Success Shows That Anything Is Possible
It is said that with determination and the right direction, one can achieve success. This has been confirmed by two sisters from a family of poor shepherds. Ritu Yadav and Kareena Yadav, who are related and belong to the Garib Charwaha community, have secured their places in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). As soon as the girls completed their schooling, they began their NEET preparations under the guidance of their uncle, who is a retired science teacher and the only literate member of the family.
Ritu Yadav (19) and Kareena Yadav (20) hail from Nangal Tulsi Das Village in Jaipur district's Jamwa Ramgarh area. They overcame numerous obstacles during their journey to crack the competitive medical entrance exams. According to media reports, Kareena Yadav scored 680 marks in the NEET examination with an All India Rank of 1621 and a Category Rank of 432. She said, "After making my first attempt in 2020, I was confident of success. Rather than trying to qualify for a good medical college, I focused on improving my score."
They Studied for 12 Hours a Day "I want to become a neurologist and serve the community," she added. Ritu Yadav scored 645 marks in her first attempt in 2022, with an All India Rank of 8179 and a Category Rank of 3027. The sisters mentioned that they minimize the use of smartphones and dedicate at least 12 hours a day to self-study. Their parents didn't even ask them to help with household chores.
The girls' uncle, Thakursi Yadav, said, "In 1983-84, after failing the medical entrance exam, I fulfilled my dream of seeing my children become doctors. I drew inspiration from seeing someone wearing a stethoscope." While the girls had been preparing diligently on their own for years, he realized the need for professional guidance and enrolled them in coaching classes in Sikar seven months ago.
Family Support for Education Kareena Yadav mentioned, "Big Papa (uncle) not only guided and taught us but also stayed with us in the hostel in Sikar and took care of all regular chores, so that we could study without any distractions." According to media reports, Thakursi Yadav expressed pride and joy, stating that now, the Bharwad family will have two doctors.
Thakursi Yadav stated that Kareena Yadav's father, Nanchu Ram, and Ritu Yadav's father, Hanuman Sahay, own two acres of land and a few goats, which are the main sources of the family's income.
