SECMOL: Redefining Education

A Visionary Beginning: In 1988, a group of college students from Ladakh, inspired by Sonam Wangchuk, embarked on a groundbreaking educational initiative. Their vision was simple yet powerful: to create a school that defies traditional norms and nurtures practical skills alongside academic knowledge.

A Curriculum Unlike Any Other: SECMOL doesn't bind itself to conventional curricula. Instead, students here delve into an eclectic mix of subjects, including practical science, social issues, public speaking, gardening, animal and tree care, Ladakhi songs, dance, and cultural education. The goal is to shape well-rounded individuals capable of thriving in the real world.

SECMOL: Education Beyond Academics

A Sustainable Campus: Spanning 20 acres, SECMOL operates entirely on solar energy, teaching students the importance of sustainability. What sets it apart is that students themselves manage the campus, instilling a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency.

Inclusive Admissions: SECMOL believes in second chances. The school offers admission opportunities to 10th-grade dropouts, those who've experienced education gaps, and candidates proficient in Ladakhi. Special weightage is given to candidates with disabilities, orphans, and children of single mothers, ensuring inclusivity and diversity.

No Tuition Fees: SECMOL follows a unique model where education is free. However, there's a nominal monthly charge of Rs 2000 for food. In return, students receive accommodation, education, and various other facilities, fostering financial inclusivity.

SECMOL: Where Responsibility Meets Education

Student Engagement: At SECMOL, students actively participate in daily chores and campus management. This hands-on approach instills a sense of responsibility and self-sufficiency in every student.

Location Matters: Situated in the cold desert climate of the Indus Valley, SECMOL experiences temperatures ranging from 20°C in summer to -30°C in winter. Fortunately, the region enjoys over 300 sunny days annually, making solar energy a dependable resource.
