Right-to-education: Many schools are reluctant to take free admission of selected children

In the current session, 8675 children have been selected for free admission in private schools under Right-to-Education (RTE). In this, 6875 children are included in the first phase, 1243 in the second phase and 557 in the third phase. At the same time, many schools are hesitant in taking admission. About 40 such schools have been given notices so far.

Some parents have also complained to Deputy CM Dr. Dinesh Sharma about the hesitation in taking free admission of children selected by The Aryan International School. It has been said that the Principal and the Vice-Principal of the school are refusing to admit the children two or three km away from the house. Not only this, he has also been accused of arbitrary fee hike. However, the Deputy CM has taken it seriously.

He has written BSA for action as per rules. BSA has directed The Aryan International School to take admission and inform it within three days as per rules. However, more than 400 children of two phases have not yet been admitted in private schools. Whereas in the third phase, the target has been set to get the children selected by August 16.

Enrollment of hundreds trapped by fake residence certificate: RTE District Coordinator Vimal Kumar Keshari said that under RTE it is mandatory to be resident of the same block or ward in which the ward or block has a school. Apart from this, hundreds of residents of Bihar or adjoining districts of Varanasi had also applied for free admission under RTE. Not only this, such children have also been selected in the lottery, but due to lack of certificate of the resident of the concerned block and ward, the admission of such children is stuck. Being on rent, the address on his Aadhar card is the same as that of his original residence.

25 percent fixed: Under the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education-2009, there is a provision to determine 25 percent free admission in private schools in respect of seats in pre-nursery and class-I, children of disadvantaged group and weaker income group.
