Rajasthan Govt To Set Up 8 Hostels, Residential School For Students From Tribal Areas

An official statement released on Saturday confirmed that the Rajasthan government plans to establish eight new hostels and a residential school for students from tribal areas. The Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, has given the green light for the creation of positions to run and operate the eight hostels and the school, which will be developed by the Tribal Areas Development Department starting from the current academic session. The statement added that the residential school will be located at Jalore district headquarters, while new girls' hostels will be established in Kasbathana, Deori, Bhanwargarh, and Shahbad in Baran district, as well as in Gada Moriya in Dungarpur and Kurabad in Udaipur. New boys' hostels will be set up at Talaiya in Dungarpur and at Pratapgarh district headquarters.

In the budget year 2023-24, Gehlot had announced the allocation of resources for these hostels and residential schools, and the state government has made a total financial provision of Rs 67.92 crore for various schemes run under the Economic Weaker Sections Development Fund. This includes Rs 5.50 crore for the Economic Weaker Section Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, Rs 40.17 crore for the construction and operation of college-level girls' hostels for the Economic Weaker Section, and Rs 9 crore for the Economic Weaker Section Chief Minister Anupriti Coaching Scheme.
