Puducherry Cabinet Decides to Give Govt School Students 10% Quota in UG Medical Courses

The N Rangasamy administration has taken a significant step by implementing a 10 per cent horizontal reservation for government school students seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses in the Union Territory. During a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Rangasamy, the decision to introduce this reservation was finalized. The administration has also sought formal approval from the Lieutenant Governor on this matter.
This move comes in response to various demands from different sectors to provide a 10 per cent horizontal reservation in medical education, specifically to benefit students graduating from government schools. The AIADMK had recently submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, advocating for this reservation to support students in rural areas and those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
