Puducherry: Aided school teachers to get Seventh Pay Commission salaries, says Education Minister

On Wednesday, Puducherry's Home and Education Minister A Namassivayam announced that teachers working in government-aided schools in the Union Territory would receive salaries in accordance with the Central Seventh Pay commission's recommendation.
 
On Wednesday, Puducherry's Home and Education Minister A Namassivayam announced that teachers working in government-aided schools in the Union Territory would receive salaries in accordance with the Central Seventh Pay commission's recommendation. The government has issued an order to disburse salaries as per the report. As Puducherry is a Union Territory, it follows the salary and allowance pattern for employees in the territorial administration on par with the system prevailing in the Central sector. A delegation of teachers of aided schools thanked the Home Minister for the announcement.  Meanwhile, Chief Minister N Rangasamy has instructed the police department to crack down on "ganja" peddlers in the Union Territory and keep a close watch on the alleged sale of ganja and other narcotics. He also stated that a separate wing would be formed in the police department to handle the crime of ganja sales. In regards to the spread of influenza A virus (H3N2), Rangasamy urged the public not to panic as government hospitals and primary health centers are operating separate booths to treat those with complaints of influenza. He assured that all hospitals were fully equipped to handle any emergency and that the Health department had reported that the number of cases would decrease by the end of the month.
