Assam Paper Leak: 'Practice Decaying Our Education System Needs to be Identified,' Says Sachindra Doley | EXCLUSIVE

For the second time in a row, the Board of Secondary Examination Assam had to make a tough decision to reschedule the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams due to some unforeseen circumstances. This time, it was the Indian Language, including Assamese, exam that was scheduled for March 18. However, the state education minister Ranoj Pegu took to Twitter to announce that the exam for all MIL subjects, including English (IL) of HSLC, will be rescheduled as per the advice of HCM. The new date for the exam will be announced soon.

Earlier on March 12, the board had to cancel the general science exam at the last minute and reschedule it for March 30, extending the duration of the exam by another ten days. This was due to reports of paper leaks, which were later shared on social media. The state CID arrested 28 individuals, including 12 juveniles, suspected of being involved in the question paper leak scam. Among the accused were a premier educational institution in upper Assam and several school authorities.

Based on substantial inputs, the arrested individuals provided valuable insights into how the nexus operated. Shockingly, students were charged Rs. 300 for a single question, Rs. 3,000 for a set of question papers, and an exorbitant amount of Rs. 30,000 for passing the exam. Such a blatant disregard for the integrity of the education system is unacceptable and needs to be dealt with severely.
