This decision has been taken due to Corona pandemic. This announcement has been made by the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The minister said that the requirement of PhD has been abolished for recruitment to the post of assistant professor in universities. Now students without doing PhD can also apply for this post.


The Education Minister said that the relief from the requirement of PhD has been given because the PhD of scholars has not been completed for the last two years due to the Corona epidemic. He said, earlier PhD was made mandatory for recruitment to the post of Assistant Professor in higher educational institutions of the country. But now this criterion has been removed. So that the vacancies can be filled on time and studies are not affected due to shortage of faculty/professors.

Must have passed UGC NET
Let us inform that earlier it was necessary to pass the UGC NET exam for recruitment to the posts of Assistant Professor in colleges and universities. But in 2018 the government said that PhD would be mandatory for this post. After this, the government gave the candidates three years to complete their PhD.
