Over 55 Lakh Students Added to Public Schools After 2017: CM Adityanath

In a recent statement, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath revealed a remarkable transformation in the state's public schools. Previously, children harbored fear towards attending these schools, but in the past six years, a staggering 55 to 60 lakh students have enrolled, highlighting a significant shift in the education landscape.
The Chief Minister proudly shared that the number of students studying in elementary schools in UP has now surpassed an impressive 1.91 crore, a figure surpassing the population of many countries. This accomplishment represents the collective efforts to improve education accessibility and quality in the state.
Addressing a program, Adityanath took a proactive step by releasing Rs 1,200 per student for the academic session 2023-24 under the state government's Basic Education department. This financial assistance has been directly transferred to parents' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), aimed at supporting the purchase of uniforms, sweaters, school bags, shoes, and stationery tailored to each student's needs and preferences.
Adityanath emphasized the importance of effective communication between teachers and parents to ensure students receive these necessities on time. Moreover, he urged teachers to be vigilant in ensuring that the funds allocated for the children are utilized appropriately, thus benefiting the students and fostering a positive learning environment.
The Chief Minister stressed that focusing on education is crucial for realizing the goal of a poverty-free Uttar Pradesh, citing a NITI Aayog report supporting this notion.
In the last six years, Uttar Pradesh has made considerable strides in addressing the shortage of teachers. A remarkable 1.64 lakh teachers have been recruited in the basic and secondary education boards, compared to the severe shortage that existed before 2017. Adityanath also underscored the significance of regular refresher courses for teachers to keep them updated and enhance their teaching skills.
Looking towards the future, the state is in the process of establishing an 'Education Commission' to further strengthen the educational system and promote continual progress.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to institutions that contributed to the success of the Basic Education Council's Operation Kayakalp. In recognition of their support in improving infrastructure and facilities, six such institutions were honored.
Overall, the remarkable growth in student enrollment, along with the government's proactive measures, signifies a strong commitment to providing quality education to every child in Uttar Pradesh. The state's journey towards educational excellence continues, ensuring a brighter future for its youth and society as a whole.
