Over 13,000 Vacancies Filled in Central HEIs in Last 10 Months: Education Minister Pradhan

More than 13,000 openings within the Central Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs) have been successfully filled over a span of 10 months through a dedicated recruitment initiative, as revealed during a parliamentary update on Monday. Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, shared this information in a written response within the Lok Sabha. The process of vacancies arising and subsequent appointments is an ongoing endeavor, attributed to factors such as retirements, resignations, and the need for additional staff due to an increase in student enrollment.
The Ministry of Education has issued directives to all CHEIs, emphasizing the urgency of filling these vacancies through a concerted Mission Mode, with a special emphasis on reserved category positions. As of August 3rd, a remarkable total of 13,371 vacancies have been successfully addressed within the CHEIs through the Mission Recruitment initiative, within a span of just ten months, as stated by Minister Pradhan. The precise number of remaining vacant positions, however, was not explicitly mentioned in his communication.
Earlier, in February, the Ministry informed the Lok Sabha that central HEIs were grappling with a shortage of more than 14,600 faculty positions, further underscoring the importance and impact of the ongoing recruitment efforts.
