Online Attendance for Students in Delhi Govt Schools, Says DoE

According to an official circular, class teachers in Delhi government schools will record student attendance online using tablets or the school computer system. This attendance record will play a significant role in final examinations. The circular emphasizes that manually marked attendance by teachers will not hold any weight for any purpose.

The circular clarifies that online attendance records will be considered the definitive source for examinations. Both the class teacher and the school's online submission of attendance data will be reflected at the headquarters level, as stated by the Directorate of Education (DoE) of the Delhi government.

The DoE underscores the importance of students' physical presence in school and their active participation in the learning process. Government school heads have been instructed to establish a strong connection between the home and school environments. This involves making personal calls to students' families and utilizing digital communication channels such as SMS, WhatsApp, and email, as suggested by the directorate.

Additionally, Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) are scheduled for every Saturday, except the Second Saturday and holidays, after school hours. During these meetings, schools will present parents with a comparative analysis of their child's attendance, particularly focusing on students who are absent for more than three days in a week, as outlined in the DoE circular.
