However, following the release of the results, some students have raised concerns about a significant difference between their estimated JEE Main marks and percentile. Many candidates have labeled this as an "error" by NTA.
The final answer key of JEE Main Session-1 was published on February 12, and the results were announced on February 13. Subsequently, candidates began questioning the disparity between the marks they obtained in the exam and their JEE Main percentile. Several users on the microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) have expressed their dissatisfaction, with some stating that despite achieving good marks in the engineering entrance exam, they received a low percentile. They suspect this discrepancy may be an "error" on NTA’s part, while others have urged the agency to demonstrate more transparency.
JEE MAIN 2024: PERCENTILE CALCULATION FORMULA To determine their percentile, students are advised to follow these steps:
Percentile Score = 100 x (No. of students who secured a score equal to or less than the student) / (Total number of students who appeared in that session of a particular exam)
JEE MAIN 2024: MARKING SCHEME In JEE Main, candidates receive four marks for each correct answer, with one mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Questions left unanswered or marked for review do not receive any marks. If a question is eliminated from the final answer key, all participants who attempted it will be awarded four marks.
This session saw a total of 23 students scoring 100 percentile. The highest number of 100 percentile scorers hails from Telangana, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh. NTA is scheduled to conduct the second session in April.
