No Coaching Classes During School Hours: Bihar Education Department

The Education Department of Bihar has issued a directive to coaching institutions within the state, prohibiting their operation during regular school hours. The government has officially banned coaching classes from 9 am to 4 pm, effectively disallowing any sessions to be held while schools are in session. Non-compliance with this directive will result in consequences for the institutions involved.

KK Pathak, the Additional Chief Secretary of Bihar's Education Department, has appealed to private coaching establishments across the state to refrain from conducting classes between 9 am and 4 pm on all working days. The primary motivation behind this decision is to enhance school attendance rates. KK Pathak has communicated with the district judges of all 38 districts, requesting their cooperation in ensuring that coaching facilities do not operate during school hours.

This action follows the department's observation of irregular school attendance among students in grades 9 through 12. District administrations have been granted until August 7 to communicate the change to coaching institutions. Meetings between coaching operators and district officials are to be scheduled between August 8 and 16. Failure to adhere to the instructions or violations of the ban may result in penalties.

The Education Department has outlined three specific orders: Coaching classes are prohibited from taking place between 9 am and 4 pm due to overlapping with school hours. Classes can only be conducted outside of this timeframe. Hiring teachers from government or non-government school facilities is strictly forbidden. Any engagement of a government official by a coaching board must be reported to the District Magistrate.

KK Pathak has emphasized that while Bihar State Coaching Institute Act, 2020 is in place, coaching institutions have not been adhering to its regulations. Any violations at this point could lead to the revocation of their registrations.
