NIT Rourkela to host CSAB-2023 and co-host JoSAA-2023

The National Institute of Technology Rourkela (NIT Rourkela) is currently conducting the centralized seat allocation process for the year 2023. This process aims to admit students to various undergraduate programs offered by 31 NITs, IIEST, 26 IIITs, 03 SPAs (School of Planning and Architecture), and 36 GFTIs (Government funded technical institutes), collectively referred to as the 'NIT+ System.' The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) and the Joint Admission Board (JAB) for IITs are responsible for conducting the seat allocation for the NIT+ System. Candidates' positions in the common rank list (CRL) of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) will determine their seat allocation, while seat allocation for IITs will be based on the CRL in JEE (Advanced).
In contrast to previous years, registration for the JoSAA rounds of seat allocation will commence on June 19th, 2023, immediately after the declaration of JEE (Advanced) results. The CSAB-Special Rounds will begin on July 31st, 2023, after the completion of the JoSAA rounds. The entire counseling process is expected to conclude by August 14th, 2023, with classes in the NIT+ System scheduled to commence on August 17th, 2023.
Additionally, CSAB will conduct separate CSAB-Supernumerary rounds based on the JEE (Main) rank for admission to supernumerary seats in selected NITs for the Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Daman and Diu, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. CSAB-NEUT rounds will also be conducted by CSAB from June 26th, 2023, to allocate seats under the scheme of 'Reservation of seats in Degree Level Technical Courses for States/UTs lacking such facilities in the AICTE-approved institutions' to candidates from North-East states and Union Territories.
Key changes in JoSAA/CSAB-2023 include:
Candidates seeking admission to IITs and the NIT+ System must secure a minimum of 75% marks in the 12th Class or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th Class. For SC/ST/PwD students, the qualifying marks are 65% in the 12th Class exam.
If a candidate's passing marks status is revised, making them eligible for admission, they will only be considered for seat allocation in subsequent rounds (if any). The allocated seat, if any, will be the same as what the candidate would have initially received based on the revised passing status.
According to the Judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO) card holders who held the said status before March 4th, 2021, will be treated on par with Indian Nationals for the seat allocation process in JoSAA/CSAB-2023 for GEN and GEN-PwD seats. OCI/PIO candidates will also benefit from female supernumerary seats.
Candidates with less than 40% disability but who face difficulty in writing and have used the services of a scribe or extra time during the examination will need to undergo physical verification at the verification center.
To assist candidates throughout the JoSAA/CSAB-2023 counseling process, a multilingual helpdesk has been set up in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bangla, Hindi, Odia, and English languages at the CSAB-2023 headquarters in NIT Rourkela.
