Negative effects of online education, develop cooperative model of education

Employment News

Employment News-It is true that the online medium has played a big role in keeping the education system regular to a great extent. But gradually its side effects are also coming out which indicates that with caution, offline education should be started for the children of all classes. Recently a research center in Kolkata has studied the impact of online education on students. Under this a report was prepared on the impact of online education on students in various schools. Opinions were taken from school students, teachers and parents from both the public and private sectors.

In this, an attempt was made to know whether the students are getting proper education in the online education system or not. The problems being faced by the students, teachers and parents were collected and special question papers were given to the students to know the answers to some personal questions. Along with this, the researchers also spoke directly to them over the phone. The picture that came out after this is a matter of great concern.

In fact, this survey has revealed that inequality among children is increasing due to online education. In households with only one smartphone and more children, most parents are handing over the phone to the eldest child for online classes. In such a situation, other children are not able to join the online class at that time. At the same time, children who do not have a smartphone, they suffer from inferiority complex. It is often seen that out of two children, if one child of the older class has a smartphone, then it is creating hatred in the mind of the younger child. In such a situation, a situation of confusion arises and the phone becomes a cause of family discord.

The second problem is that the parents who are unable to get their children smartphones for online studies, their children try to study from their phones at the same time when the parents are at home. Therefore, in such children, the fear of lagging behind others is dominating. Along with this, they are also suffering from mental depression considering their family as backward from other families. Apart from this, many problems have been uncovered in this survey, such as many students sit in online classes with their phones muted, but they are busy elsewhere. Many students are not able to understand properly even due to lack of direct communication between the teacher and the student. At the same time, many teachers are not able to teach properly online despite all the efforts. The examination is also not being conducted in a transparent manner.

However, if you look at all these things, then it comes to know that online education is just a joke. Due to this the purpose of education is not being fulfilled. Although there can be many reasons for this, but being digital based is its biggest weakness. Since online learning can be conducted not from smartphones but from tablets, projectors, PCs and smartrooms, this system of education is not being fully effective due to lack of smartroom and other related equipment in every home. On the contrary, the risk has also increased for the children who are engaged in online studies night and day. Children who are glued to digital screens for a long time are falling prey to many other diseases including insomnia, heaviness in eyes, irritability. The mental state of the children is also being affected.

Psychiatrists have also warned that the number of children and youth suffering from diseases like insomnia, sadness etc. is continuously increasing in the hospital. This is happening because children are glued to the smartphone for a long time. Many psychiatrists have advised schools that online classes should not be conducted for more than 30 minutes. Or keep giving children long breaks in between. Due to continuous teaching for a long time, the children are not able to stay focused. Parents should take care of all these by taking cognizance of the changes in the children, otherwise it will have a fatal effect if the smartphone becomes addicted and can lead to psychosis like insomnia and mania. Emotional instability, trouble concentrating, feeling depressed, pain in the eyes and head, feeling weak, etc. can be symptoms of smartphone phobia in children.

The American Academy of Pediatrics has presented a research report on children's screen time, in which children up to five years of age have been advised not to use the screen for more than an hour. At the same time, it has been said to limit the screen time of children older than six years and give enough time to children for playing outside the house or for other activities. Apart from this, recently, UNICEF has conducted a survey in six states of the country to know the reality of the online education system.

The report revealed that 73 percent of parents of students in the age group five to 13, 80 percent of parents of adolescents aged 14 to 18, and 67 percent of teachers said that children learn much less than they did in school. are getting. According to this report, 33 percent of the teachers say that the students are not getting any significant benefit from these virtual classes. In these classes, 30 to 40 percent of urban students could not join studies. The situation was worse in rural areas, where 50 to 60 percent of the students stayed away from studies. All these facts indicate that online education formats are not proving to be more effective.
