Amidst the recent controversy surrounding the NEET UG 2024 examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has made a significant decision to schedule a re-test for 1563 candidates who were initially granted grace marks due to loss of time during the exam. This move follows the Supreme Court's decision to cancel the compensation exam allotted earlier to these candidates, aiming to address grievances and ensure fairness in the examination process.

Formation of High Powered Committee:
In response to raised concerns, the NTA constituted a High Powered Committee to examine the issue of grant of compensatory/grace marks to the affected candidates. After thorough consideration, the Committee submitted its recommendations, which have been accepted by the NTA. As per these recommendations, the NTA has decided to conduct a re-test for the 1563 candidates who received compensatory marks in their original results.

Details of the Re-Test:
The re-test for NEET UG 2024 will take place on June 23, intending to reverse the results declared on June 4. Only candidates who received compensatory marks in their original results are eligible to participate in the re-examination. The exam will be held between 2:00 to 5:20 P.M., and the results are expected to be released on June 30. Admit cards for the re-test will be issued soon.

Cancellation of Original Scorecards:
The original scorecards of the 1563 candidates will be cancelled and withdrawn. Candidates will receive their actual scores without the grace marks via their registered email addresses. Those who choose not to retake the exam will receive results without the grace marks, while only the reevaluated marks will be considered for candidates opting for the re-test.

Contact Information for Queries:
Candidates with any queries or concerns regarding the re-test can reach out to the authorities via email at neet@nta.ac.in or contact them at 011 – 40759000 / 011 – 69227700.

Background of NEET UG 2024 Controversy:
The NEET UG 2024 examination, conducted on May 5 for approximately 24 lakh students, stirred controversy when the results revealed that 67 candidates achieved a perfect score of 720 marks. Concerns were raised, especially regarding six candidates from the same or nearby exam centres obtaining the perfect score. After petitions were filed in high courts, the NTA constituted a Grievance Redressal Committee, which confirmed the loss of exam time and awarded 1563 candidates with grace marks.
