Supreme Court's Decision:
Following deliberations, the Supreme Court declared that the grace marks awarded to 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates would be canceled. These students will have the option to reappear for the exam, with the retest likely scheduled for June 23. The court emphasized that the results of those who opt not to retake the exam would be based on their actual marks, sans compensatory marks. The NTA has confirmed the retest and stated that it will be notified soon, with a tentative date set for June 23. The results of the re-exam are expected before June 30, ensuring that the counseling scheduled for July 6 remains unaffected.

Government's Stand and Action Plan:
Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan assured that the government would take stringent action against those responsible for the NEET-UG 2024 debacle. He affirmed the seriousness with which the government views the issue and reiterated its commitment to resolving it effectively.

Petitioner's Perspective:
Alakh Pandey, the petitioner and CEO of Physics Wallah, highlighted the trust deficit with the NTA due to the recent events. He emphasized the acceptance of NTA's error by the Supreme Court and raised concerns about potential undisclosed discrepancies. Pandey underscored the need for transparency and accountability in the examination process.

Background and Investigation:
The NEET-UG 2024, held on May 5, saw suspicions arise when an unusually high number of students scored a perfect 720. After petitions and complaints, the NTA formed a Grievance Redressal Committee, which compensated 1,563 candidates with grace marks based on time lost during the exam.

Reactions and Demands:
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian called for the scrapping of NEET, citing irregularities in the recent exam. He emphasized that none of the affected students were from Tamil Nadu and urged the Union Government to take action.
