NEET UG 2023: Aspirants Demand Postponement Citing Lack of Preparation Time, Seek Help From PM Modi

The online registration for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate (UG) 2023 ended on April 15, with the entrance exam scheduled to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 7. However, a group of medical aspirants is requesting the postponement of the exam by at least a month, citing inadequate preparation time. In an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, students have used social media platforms and hashtags like #NEETUG23 and #neetugpostpone to express their concerns. Some have argued that while the academic calendar runs for 12 months, they were given only 10 months to prepare for the exam.

Additionally, a NEET aspirant has called for an extension in the registration window, as many students faced various issues, such as delayed or non-receipt of OTPs, server issues, and payment failures. NEET UG 2023 registration was extended from its initial closing date of April 6 to April 15 to accommodate more aspirants. Nearly 240 students had requested an extension due to difficulties in filling the NEET UG 2023 application form.

NEET 2023 will be conducted in 13 languages, and around 15 to 18 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam, which is mandatory for anyone seeking admission in medical courses, including MBBS. Additionally, NEET scores will now be used for admission into the BSc Nursing Course being conducted at Armed Forces Medical Service Hospitals.
