NEET Aspirant Dies By Suicide In Kota Hostel Room

In Udaipur, a tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning when an 18-year-old aspiring medical student allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room located in the Vigyan Nagar Police Station area. According to the authorities, the teenager, who had been diligently preparing for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), was found hanging in his room sometime between Monday and Tuesday. Although no suicide note was discovered at the scene, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This distressing event marks the 13th suspected suicide case of a coaching student in Kota this year. In 2022, Kota witnessed a saddening tally of 15 reported suicides among coaching students. The young boy, identified as Mehul Vaishnav (18) from Salumbar in Udaipur district, had been attending a coaching institute in Kota for the past two months to pursue his NEET aspirations. Residing in a hostel situated in the Vigyan Nagar area, Vaishnav was alone in his room on the night of the incident as his roommate was absent. Concerned hostel mates, upon realizing that Vaishnav had not emerged from his room by late Tuesday morning, promptly informed the caretaker. Subsequently, the caretaker, accompanied by others, forcefully entered the room and discovered the distressing sight of the boy hanging from a ceiling fan. The body has been transferred to the mortuary at MBS Hospital, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted once Vaishnav's family members arrive.
