NCERT syllabus change — here's what really ails history textbook writing in India

The CUET-UG exam has the potential to revolutionize the academic experience for students and colleges alike. In 2023, more than 200 universities, including 47 central institutions and numerous state, private, and deemed universities, are participating in the CUET exam. This represents a significant increase from the 90 universities that participated in the 2022 exam. CUET-UG is the second-largest entrance exam in the country, with approximately 12.5 lakh students registering and 9.9 lakh submitting applications in the first round.
Concerns were raised about how the recent rationalization of NCERT texts would affect the entrance exam for undergraduate candidates. However, a senior National Testing Agency (NTA) official confirmed that the syllabus for the CUET UG Exam would remain the same since the exam is not just for students from one particular board. The National Testing Agency has assured students that the latest NCERT syllabus changes will not impact the CUET UG Exam.
According to the official NTA exam calendar, the CUET UG 2023 test will take place from May 21 to May 31, 2023. The NTA reopened the CUET UG registration portal on April 9, 2023, and accepted applications until April 11, 2023. The dates for the CUET 2023 exam are available on the public exam schedule. On April 3, 2023, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) made changes to the NCERT textbooks for classes 10, 11, and 12. Several topics, including the Mughal Empire, Gujarat Riots, Cold War, were removed from the syllabus.
In addition to the CUET exam, the NTA also conducted the JEE Mains Exam on April 6 and 8, 2023. The NEET 2023 exam is scheduled to take place on May 7, 2023.
