Nagpur College Lecturer Ends Life

In a distressing turn of events, a 42-year-old lecturer at GS College of Commerce in Nagpur has reportedly taken his own life at his residence. The police have revealed that Gajanan Janraoji Karade, a Hindi lecturer who dedicated 12 years to teaching students of Classes 11 and 12, was found hanging in his home on Sunday evening. His wife happened to be away in Amravati at the time, intensifying the sorrowful circumstances.

According to close relatives, Karade had been enduring immense stress lately, frequently expressing his anguish over alleged harassment from certain members of the teaching faculty and the college management. On the day of the incident, Karade reached out to his brother-in-law via phone, sharing his fears of a possible attack by unidentified individuals. He entrusted his brother-in-law with a diary containing detailed accounts of the harassment, stored in the refrigerator, urging him to take action if anything were to happen to him.

Tragically, Karade's wife and his brother-in-law's wife were attending a relative's wedding in Amravati when they received the distressing news. They immediately rushed to Nagpur, only to discover Karade's lifeless body suspended from a ceiling fan. The Beltarodi police station confirmed that family members had handed over the diary to the authorities. The diary, encompassing 14 pages, uncovers Karade's emotional turmoil, documenting names and other pertinent details.

This disheartening incident serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support systems.
