Motivating youth for farming, quality education to students
There is immense potential in agriculture. The golden future of the youth of the country is in the agricultural sector, due to which the life and agriculture of the youth have been transformed. Bihar Agricultural University is trying to bring this vision of the government to the ground. BAU is motivating and encouraging the youth to join agricultural education. The trend of youth is big in this direction, the university is trying to give more momentum to it.
It is the only agricultural institute in Bihar that offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree courses in agriculture and horticulture. The university will conduct the said degree program in its various subordinate colleges (Bihar Agricultural College, Sabour, Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College, Purnia, Mandan Bharti Agricultural College, Saharsa, Dr. Kalam Agricultural College, Kishanganj, Veer Kunwar Singh Agricultural College, Dumraon and Nalanda. The Horticulture College is doing through Nursarai. The university conducts the entrance examination itself for admission to undergraduate degree, masters and doctoral degree programs in agriculture and horticulture.
Farming is not the only opportunity in agriculture
In this regard, Dr. RN Singh, co-director of Prasar Shiksha, says that majority of the country’s population lives in rural areas and agriculture is the major source of livelihood of more than 65 percent of the population. Most people believe that farming is the only employment opportunity under agriculture. While degrees in undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, fisheries, livestock management, dairy technology, plant biotechnology, agricultural engineering, community science (home science), agricultural marketing, food technology, sericulture and other allied fields -There are immense possibilities of employment andself-employment for students.
Agricultural education in the country is regulated at the national level by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and the Veterinary Council. The Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture has been declared as a profesional degree by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. In agriculture education and research, training and agricultural extension, manufacturing and marketing sector, service sector, etc., there is a better opportunity for the youth to shape their future.
There is a lot of opportunity in agriculture and allied sectors. There is a need for the youth to join agriculture education at a fast pace.
